Where to Drink in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

The US Virgin Islands is known as one of the best bar hopping destinations in the Caribbean region, with St. Thomas, the designated capital of the USVI, being the ultimate hub. With endless strips of bars, killer cocktails like the bushwacker, and inexpensive alcohol (hello Cruzan Rum), it’s no wonder this American paradise is a top choice for spring breakers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and anyone who simply wants a good time. Many choose to have their fun in the USVI because, compared to other party destinations where drinks cost up to $18 a cup, drinks in the USVI cost as low as $6 for a rum punch. We’re not kidding! If you’re already sold on coming to the USVI for a good time, here are 5 places you can’t miss in its party hub, St. Thomas.

Redhook

Well known for late night bars that offer the tastiest bar food with a Caribbean twist, places like Island Time Pub and Bernie’s are often top choices for those who want a night out in Redhook to talk about for years. The atmosphere is casual with fan favorites like Duffy’s Love Shack, but you’ll find some people dressed up for the fancy restaurants on the strip, like The Easterly. It’s the ultimate bar hopping experience.

Tillet Gardens

Looking for live music and an artsy scene? Look no further than Tillet Gardens. There are at least three restaurants in the brick road courtyard, like gourmet pizza spot Za Rock, all selling lots and lots of rum. Not only is this a good place to drink and listen to live music, they often host art exhibits, plays, and various events to keep you entertained and supporting local artists.

Havensite

Not at all to be missed, make sure to head over to Havensite for a diverse bar experience. Spotted with bars for every type of person, Havensite will satisfy your entire group. Start fancy with a cocktail at Brix, hop over to Tap & Still right across the street for milkshakes spiked with rum, and then end the night at the many restaurants/bars within walking distance, like Doghouse Pub or Smoking Rooster. You can even go bowling first at Chicken’n Bowling if you have active people in your group.

Mainstreet

With bars and nightclubs around every corner, it’s no wonder visitors and locals alike enjoy partying in the historic capital of St. Thomas. With breathtaking views of the natural harbor at Greenhouse with their 2 for 1 happy hours, to cigar lounges like the Pelican Shop where you can grab a cigar or a hookah, the happy hours and late nights on Mainstreet makes for the perfect picturesque night out.

Downtown

Looking for an authentic local scene? Head downtown for tons of local bars and restaurants where the drinks keep flowing and the food is delicious. The Win Mill 2.0 is a popular sports bar with customer-favorite wings, game nights, and friendly bartenders. It’s right in the bustling Frenchtown neighborhood giving you access to other bars and restaurants within walking distance. Only a few minutes away is Mi Bloque, a popular Latin night club that brings out a large crowd, especially on Friday nights when the DJ plays Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Reggaeton, and so much more. Plus they offer hookah and sometimes free alcohol until a certain time. But don’t end the night there. Keep going down to Crown Bay to check out West Zanzibar. This local spot has classic cocktails, live entertainment, pop-up shops and delicious local food and drinks, like the mamajuana piña colada…try it!

It’s always a good time in the US Virgin Islands. But remember to drink responsibly and to NEVER drink and drive.
