Pro Tip

  1. A port fee is collected by the Virgin Islands Government at a designated booth just before entering the car barge loading area in Red Hook, St. Thomas. It’s $3 per car, small SUV, or motorcycle, and $4 per truck, van, or large SUV. This port fee, paid in cash, is separate from the fare for taking the car barge.
  2. It’s cheaper to get a roundtrip ticket with the same car barge operator vs using different car barge operators to go back and forth. Review car barge schedules ahead of time to identify exactly when you want to leave and come back, ideally with the same operator.
